LESSONS
Tutoring is not a quick-fix solution, and success usually comes as the result of growing rapport between tutor and student . In the case of day school students, we would usually recommend an on-going support program. These normally take place weekly after school or at the weekend, and provide valuable support to the day-to-day work they are doing at school. ONLINE tutoring makes after school / evening sessions more amenable.
If you are looking for holiday catch-up tuition, or last minute preparation for exams, then you may prefer longer lessons of 90 minutes or 2 hours at shorter intervals. Personal tuition is an invaluable aid to GCSE and A Level revision, and does actually boost results.
COST
There is one-off registration fee of £70 which entitles all members of your family to use the service at any time in the future. This is payable direct to Inkerman Tutors, immediately after your new tutor makes contact with you (and no later than one week after tuition starts).
The tutors’ charges vary according to the academic level of the student. Currently these charges are between £55 and £70 per hour. This is for an experienced teacher or tutor with a proven track record. If your tutor is a recent graduate with little teaching experience, they will charge less. Our tutors are self-employed and paid by you at the end of each lesson (or at your mutual convenience).
24 hours notice or more must be given in the event of cancellation, or a fee is payable – 50% the cost of the lesson.
If necessary, a travel expense of up to £10 (£5 per 15 mins car journey) may be added.
NETWORK
Finding the right tutor is an important business. By taking advantage of the Inkerman Tutors network, you do not need to subscribe to a website directory and hope for the best. We know our tutors, and by consulting carefully with you at the start of the process, we are confident that we can find the right one for you. In the unlikely event that a tutor/client match does not work out, we can step in and help, assigning you an alternative tutor if need be.
